Veriva

Where impact becomes evidence.

Veriva Compass independently asseses what regenerative tourism claims, across ecological, social, cultural, and operational impact. Our magazine, Insider Voices, tells the stories behind that impact. Two parts of one mission: proof and proximity, working together.

Regenerative

Tourism that strengthens places, people and ecosystems instead of burdening them.

Verified

Every claim, checked against evidence, not self reported: idependently sample verified by a third party.

Honestly

No advertising from the editorial team, no recommendation without conviction

Connecting

Between travelers, local providers, and the places themselves

Turning travel into a force for people and planet

Mission & Vision

What if every journey could be proven to leave a place better than it found it?

Our vision is a data intelligence platform that drives positive impact tourism. Today, the hosts, lodges and conservancies doing the most for their communities and ecosystems are often the hardest to recognise. Their impact is real but scattered, unmeasured or lost in marketing language. Veriva turns it into structured, transparent data that travel platforms, destinations, investors and researchers can trust, compare and act on.

Our mission is to make tourism the biggest driver of global development and environmental conservation. Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries. If just two percentage points more of it became regenerative, it would channel more into communities and nature than almost any other force. Data is how we get there: what can be shown can be rewarded, and what is rewarded grows.

Founder: Behind Veriva is me, Laetitia: traveller, mother, and for ten years the founder of a travel platform. For years I kept asking what travel really leaves behind for the places and people we visit. Veriva is my answer: making positive impact visible, measurable and worth investing in.

Our approach

How we work and why that's important

01

Each partner is independently verified.

No property enters the Compass based on self-reported claims alone. Every accommodation is assessed against evidence: ecological, social, cultural, and operational. No pay-to-play, no favors, no assessment for sale.

02

Editorial team without
 conflict of interest

Veriva clearly separates editorial content from partnerships. Those mentioned in the magazine are there because they deserve it, not because they pay. Transparency is not an extra, but a fundamental principle.

03
Networking instead of
isolation

Veriva views travel as an ecosystem: accommodations, travel designers, DMCs, OTAs, DMOs, local providers, and travelers all belong together. We create the connections that make regenerative tourism possible.

The Founder

Laetitia Hörnler

Laetitia Hörnler has spent nearly twenty years moving through every side of the travel industry, and along the way she kept running into the same problem: hotel sustainability stories that don’t hold up to scrutiny.

She studied cultural and media studies, then management, and trained at Publicis before working in hotel PR and media sales. When she had children, she ran into a different problem: family travel meant being steered toward big resorts, with almost no way to find the boutique hotels she knew existed. Other parents told her the same thing. So in 2017 she founded Mamis Travelguide, and as it grew she began writing as a family-travel expert for GEO and other publications.

Across all of it, PR, journalism, hotel-side work, she saw the same gap: properties doing genuine regenerative work, restoring land, supporting communities, protecting culture, with no independent proof to back it up, next to properties whose sustainability claims were mostly marketing.

Veriva is her answer. Instead of another certification badge, it’s a data platform. Its core tool, the Compass Assessment, is one Laetitia developed herself, refined early on with input from academics in regenerative hospitality and aligned with global sustainability standards. The data it produces is spot-checked independently rather than simply self-reported, giving travellers, booking platforms, investors and destinations something they can actually trust.

Alongside Compass sits Veriva Magazine, an independent publication built on the same instinct: that this subject deserves real journalism, not marketing dressed up as editorial. It covers what regenerative tourism is achieving, and reports honestly on the pressures working against it, overtourism, climate strain, water shortages, alongside the operators proving a better path is possible.

Laetitia’s conviction is simple: even a two-percentage-point shift toward regenerative tourism would make travel one of the biggest forces for good on the planet. As tourism researcher Dianne Dredge said recently, the future of tourism and the future of the planet are tightly bound together. Veriva exists to prove that, and help build it.

She believes that the most important thing a travel platform can do is tell the truth, including the gaps.

"Regenerative tourism doesn't mean traveling less. It means traveling more consciously with the goal that the places we love become more , not less, through our presence."
